United Way of Central Kansas (UWCK) is proud to support programs that strengthen families, promote education, and meet basic needs across Barton and Pawnee Counties. Together with community partners, donors, and volunteers, we’re building a stronger, more resilient region.
Box of Love
Each year, UWCK partners with local agencies and volunteers to deliver Valentine’s Day care packages to homebound seniors. This project lets seniors know they are valued and remembered, fostering connection and care for an often-overlooked part of our community. Click here to learn more.
Reality U
Through Reality U, middle and high school students experience hands-on financial literacy education. They learn how choices about education, career, and personal decisions impact their future. This program prepares young people for success and responsible citizenship.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
UWCK supports early childhood literacy by providing free, age-appropriate books each month to children under five. This program builds school readiness, strengthens parent-child bonds, and sets the stage for long-term academic achievement. Register online by clicking here or visiting your local library.
Stuff the Bus
Our annual school supply drive ensures local students have the tools they need to start the school year strong. Supplies are distributed directly to schools and students, easing financial burdens on families and supporting classroom success. Click here to learn more.
Laundry Love
Laundry Love offers free laundry services for individuals and families in need, helping them maintain dignity and well-being. This monthly event provides relief to those facing financial hardship while creating a space of connection and community. Takes place the 3rd Saturday of the month in Great Bend at Discount Laundry from 10:00-2:00 and in Larned on the final Wednesday of the month from 3:00-5:00 at Santa Fe Laundry.
#RealWorld
#RealWorld equips high school seniors with practical life skills as they prepare for life after graduation. Topics include budgeting, employment, and personal wellness—helping young adults transition successfully into independent living.
Auto Care Access
Auto Care Access looks to address the transportation issues that arise for families who are below the ALICE (Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed) threshold. In our area, more than 46% of households are living paycheck to paycheck with little to no room for additional expenses. These individuals and families are working hard to make sure that they provide a safe home and food on the table. An integral part of this is ensuring that they can get to and from their jobs with reliable transportation. Apply now by clicking here.
