The focus of United Way is to bring the entire community-individuals, businesses, and organizations-together to create lasting change in our community.
Our vision is that all people will have an equal opportunity to succeed. We believe that a community cannot be truly successful unless everyone in that community succeeds, most especially those with the least. We commit to leveraging all of our assets to create more equitable communities. Through our partnerships with our Community Partners and other organizations in our community, we strive to create an equitable society for all our neighbors.
To be eligible for United Way of Central Kansas funding, the funded agency must be doing work in one of our three focus areas.
- Health-By making it easier for individuals to access substance abuse programs, receive quality health care and access nutritious foods, we’re fighting to help everyone get—and stay—healthy.
- Education-We’re fighting to shift the odds so tomorrow’s leaders can build a better foundation today. With an approach to education that spans from cradle to career, we’re ensuring every child gets a strong start in life, teenagers have the tools to learn and grow, and young adults thrive in the job market.
- Financial Stability-We’re fighting to put every person, in every community, on a path toward financial empowerment. That starts with access to services, job training, credit counseling and money management programs.
